Activate Computer Accounts

ATTENTION: Laptop ownership will be required for incoming freshmen in the fall of 2007. For more details regarding the University initiative, visit the Student Laptop Initiative site.

UNCG provides computer accounts for all admitted and enrolled students. You can activate your computer accounts over the web as soon as you receive your admit letter. It is critical that you activate your computer accounts because a growing number of UNCG offices communicate with students by electronic means.

To activate your computer accounts over the web you will need to know your University ID number, First and Last Name on your admissions application, and your date of birth. Workshops are offered on how to use various computer accounts and services at UNCG. In addition to the above accounts your UNCG computer account username is required to access the following:

Blackboard - The online learning platform used by over 50% of UNCG students for some or all of their courses.

Element K - Online self-paced training for UNCG students.

Other computer accounts may be required by special programs or courses. Your instructor should notify you of any special computer account requirements. If your name changes while you are a student you can get your computer username changed to reflect your new name. Students who reside in UNCG residence halls obtain Internet connectivity through ResNet.
