Check Your Academic Standing

Approximately 24 hours after all of your final grades have been entered your academic standing for the semester will be calculated. You can look up your Academic Standing in UNCGenie. If your academic standing says Good Standing, Dean's List or Chancellor's List congratulations on a successful semester at UNCG. If it says something else you need to find out more. Students are responsible for knowing their academic standing and whether or not they are on Academic Probation.

Academic standing is viewed through UNCGenie on the same page as your Final Grades, just above the listing of your grades. Academic standing is re-calculated after grade changes.

Undergraduate Students:

Depending on your class level (FR, SO, etc) and performance for the semester you could be placed on Academic Probation, Academic Suspension or Academic Dismissal. Student Academic Services determines academic standing.

Students on Academic Probation must perform at or above a certain level during the next semester or face Suspension.

Students on Academic Suspension CANNOT enroll at UNCG for the next semester and will have their schedules dropped if they have pre-registered for the next semester. Students are notified of suspension via e-mail and letter.

Students on Academic Dismissal CANNOT return to UNCG and will have their schedules dropped if they have pre-registered for the next semester. Students are notified of Dismissal via e-mail and letter. Once a year has passed the student may appeal the Dismissal.

Appeals for Suspension and Probation may be filed with Student Academic Services. Read the related information before filing an appeal.

Graduate Students:

Graduate Students are subject to the Graduate School Policy on Continuing in Graduate School.
